Re: Barrel Plating Acid Copper

Has anyone had success in barrel plating bright acid copper? I have experience in acid copper rack plating, but have never seen this in a barrel application. If so, what are the operating parameters?

This is not something that is very common as you may have found.  However, I would suggest the reverse formula (from standard acid copper formulas)where the sulfuric acid is increased to 15 oz/gal to 20 oz/gal, with
the sum remaining 40 for both sulfuric acid and copper sulfate: for example 15/ 25 or  20/20 bath as oz/gal sulfuric acid to oz/gal copper sulfate.

Another thought, your strike prior to AC plate needs to be plated a little heaver in thickness as it may take slightly longer for the AC to plate on the part under barrel conditions.
