The 2009 Anodizing Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6 through Thursday, October 8 at the Sheraton Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. The Conference attracts influential decision makers from the anodizing and manufacturing communities and is considered the industry event of the year, highlighting the latest technical information, industry innovations, and business developments geared specifically toward anodizers.

<img src="user-uploads/nmolenda/AACButn120x60-72.jpg" />

The three-day program includes General Sessions, Focus Sessions, networking events, and an optional plant tour to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company. The Conference opens on Tuesday evening, October 6, with the Welcome Reception. Wednesday’s program consists of a General Session in the morning, Focus Sessions in the afternoon, and the popular Delegate Network Event in the evening. Highlights for Wednesday’s General Session include new market opportunities for anodized aluminum components, including large-scale solar equipment and the successful use of anodized aluminum in applications that historically relied on other materials. The General Session also features the popular Technical Q&A Panel, an interactive forum where anodizing experts share their expertise and answer questions from conference delegates.

Focus Sessions, smaller breakout sessions offering anodizers in-depth perspectives on relevant issues, are divided into three topical tracks: Technical, Scientific, and Technology Forum. The Technical Track includes sessions devoted to a new nickel-free cold sealing process, and process control for electrolytic coloring, and a new electropolish-activated anodize process. The Scientific Track includes sessions covering thin film anodizing, nano-scale uses of anodized aluminum oxide, and other cutting-edge research. The new Technology Forum Track provides an atmosphere where select presenters provide information on their new products, proprietary processes, or other capabilities. “The Aluminum Anodizers Council has a longstanding practice of limiting commercial content in the papers and presentations delivered at the conference,” stated AAC President Greg Rajsky, CAE. “Unbiased technical information is the hallmark of our program. Yet every year we see interesting content that leans toward the commercial, with proprietary products and systems often at the center of technical innovation. For that reason, we created the Technology Forum in the spirit of bringing new and relevant information to the anodizing community.”

Thursday’s General Session will feature five technical presentations, including the latest work on the optical properties of anodized aluminum from the Technical University of Denmark, as well as “Optimizing the Extrusion Process for Surface Quality,” presented by Duncan Crowdis, president of Bonnell Aluminum. In addition, Jorge Vazquez of HARBOR Intelligence, a consulting firm that specializes in the aluminum market, will present a session on Aluminum Trends. Vazquez, founder and vice president of HARBOR Intelligence’s Aluminum Unit, will review the latest information on key global aluminum market trends, and in this context, major trends in the demand for wrought aluminum in the U.S. He will also discuss the outlook in aluminum demand and prices for the next three years, as well as the trends in the construction, automotive, and durable goods sectors. “Mr. Vazquez’s presentations are well received within the aluminum industry and this address promises to provide important data and insight that will help anodizers understand and better identify opportunities and challenges in this uncertain economic climate,” commented Rajsky.

In addition to the latest technical and business information, the Anodizing Conference and Exposition provides an excellent environment for making and nurturing industry connections. The Anodizing Expo, open during conference meal functions and networking events, provides an interactive forum for anodizers to connect with industry suppliers, discuss business, and see the best industry products and services. In addition, the popular Delegate Network Event, sponsored by select AAC Supplier Members, provides a relaxing, inviting atmosphere conducive to making and strengthening industry relationships.

The Council will also be conducting the Anodizing Essentials Workshop, an all-day school for anodizers developed and delivered by anodizing industry professionals to explain the fundamentals of quality anodizing. The Anodizing Essentials Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, 2009.

Program details and registration information for both the 2009 Anodizing Conference & Exposition and the Anodizing Essentials Workshop are available at www.AACconf.org.

The Aluminum Anodizers Council is the international trade association of firms engaged in aluminum anodizing and whose mission it is to promote the use of anodized aluminum worldwide through technical interchange, education, marketing, and other means to meet the common interests of its members.
