Topic: Blisters on electrocleaning

Hi everybody!

I am plating high polished brass parts and when i electroclean them if i use too much time i see blisters during or after the plate (nickel watts)

does anybody know the reason (nochromium present en electroclener)

Re: Blisters on electrocleaning

My best success with plating brass was where I did an acid dip after the electroclean.

Keep in mind, that although nickel can be deposited directly on plain carbon steels and most low-alloy steels, copper and brass, it cannot be plated directly onto lead, zinc, zinc-based alloys and copper alloys containing more than 40% zinc.  If this is the case, an undercoating of 0.2 - 0.4 mils of copper are recommended.

Hope that helps, Daniel.
